David Liddiard

Chairman
David is Chief Executive Officer of the National Aboriginal
Sports Corporation (NASCA) - Australia's pre-eminent not-for-profit
Aboriginal sports body. He is a Member of the Board of Vocational
Education and Training Industry Liaison Committee.
David's professional Rugby League career saw him perform for fifteen
seasons as an elite player in both the Australian competition
(Parramatta, Penrith and Manly Clubs) and in the English competition
with Leeds Rugby League Club.
Having experienced first hand what benefits sport, education and a
healthy lifestyle can have for individuals and communities, David
has, for the past ten years committed himself to working with
Aboriginal youth and communities.
The emphasis of David's activities is on young people, and using
sport as a means to connect them. His aim is to motivate these
people to persist with their education and lead healthier
lifestyles, thus enhancing their lives and general opportunities.
Under David's leadership NASCA has achieved impressive outcomes with
thousands of young Aboriginal people throughout Australia, being
involved in NASCA sports workshops and other health and education
community activities.
During the first phase of Message Stick, David will initially
provide support and guidance to the CEO in the Sales and Marketing
function.
David aims to contribute to Message Stick becoming an important role
model for Indigenous people and non - Indigenous people alike.
David is a member of the following boards and committees:
- Member - Board of Vocational Education and Training (BVET)
Industry Liaison Committee;
- SPORTS - Sub-committee Promoting Opportunity, Recreation and
Talent
Part of the NSW Dept of Sport & Recreation
- Member - Board of the National Aboriginal Sports Corporation
