A story of First Nations’ economic empowerment & self-determination
The message stick, a simple yet profound tool, has been a cornerstone of this tradition. It symbolises the enduring power of connection and the importance of delivering messages with clarity and intent.
Today, Message Stick Communications carries forward this legacy. As an Indigenous-owned ICT managed service provider, we leverage cutting-edge technology to connect people and organisations, just as the message stick once connected communities.
As we celebrate 20 years of service, we remain committed to our mission: to build a brighter future through the power of technology and the strength of human connection.
Michael McLeod and Dugald Russell
Celebrating 20 Years of Indigenous Business Leadership.
In 2003, two men from different backgrounds came together with a shared passion to provide greater opportunities for First Nations people and in particular their economic development. Michael is a member of the Stolen Generations, Dug Russell grew up on the NSW mid-coast counting many Indigenous kids as friends.
Dug’s and Michael’s early personal experiences shaped their influential vision for First Nations’ economic empowerment and self-determination.
Message Stick Communications is the trailblazing organisation they built as the first step in their vision to promote Indigenous owned businesses to corporates and government.
The company has grown over two decades to be a successful and well-respected ICT managed service provider delivering first-class technology solutions to public and private sector organisations.
We’ve come a long way in the last 20 years, but there is a long way to go…
Message Stick Communications stands as an enduring symbol of Indigenous entrepreneurship so that all First Nations people might recognise that spirit within themselves.
We’ve come a long way over the past 20 years and would like to take this opportunity to thank our clients, partners, our staff and government as we welcome the next generation of First Nations leaders.
